What is a growth mindset, a fixed mindset and stereotype threat?

A fixed mindset is the belief that abilities are very much predetermined. It is at the source of employees and students comparing themselves to one another both at work and in social media. As a result, it erodes self-esteem and increases anxiety. A fixed mindset culture is also fertile ground for what is known as stereotype threat. This is where employees become reluctant to attempt anything new or struggle to achieve their best in situations where there are stereotypically negative expectations of them. The fear of conforming to the stereotype of their social group and the anxieties evoked means they often underperform in areas they are more than capable. Fixed mindset cultures stifle creativity, brings about groupthink, fosters low productivity, poor engagement and create a judgmental environment that prevents employees from expressing their authentic voices.

Contrastingly, a growth mindset is the belief that the brain is a muscle that grows and learns from its mistakes. A growth mindset, therefore, unlocks mental boundaries and develops greater levels of creativity and innovation.

How does the programme also boost physical activity for all employees?

With our minds and bodies being linked, employees are empowered to boost their wellbeing and develop greater insights through getting outside and connecting with nature. Our bodies, like our brains, is a muscle that grows and gets stronger through a small daily shift in your physical activity. 

How does the process work?

The programme kick starts with a free taster session then is delivered either on-site over four x 1.5 hour sessions or off-site at one of our recommended central London venues for a full day.  

There are three sections: Unplug, Discover, Unleash

The Unplug section: Uses a unique combination of tools and mindfulness techniques to calm the amygdala area of the brain associated with fear, to disconnect from negative thinking and unplug from the noise of the outside world.

The Discover section:  Skills are taught in adopting a growth-mindset in order to discover your authentic voice, unleash creativity, your full potential as well as to create a healthier lifestyle.

Unleash section: The Unleash section is where teams are equipped with tools to find their voices and communicate their unique ideas compellingly to inspire others.
